SUMMARY:2024 Lenten Series
DESCRIPTION:Summary of the series:\nThis series\, in conjunction with Bishop Emeritus Felipe Estevez’s presentations on Johannine Literature\, will provide a unique exploration of Jesus through the lens of three iconic characters in the Fourth Gospel: Nicodemus\, the Samaritan Woman\, and the Man Born Blind. By delving into key literary elements used by John in narrating these “close encounters” with the Son of God\, attendees will immerse themselves in this gospel’s narrative world\, experiencing John’s Jesus in transformative ways. \nBishop Estevez will present the First Letter of St John as a synthesis of the entire Fourth Gospel\, offering insights into the incarnate love of God through focused Christology. Additionally\, in Chapter 6\, John’s Gospel reveals the uniqueness of the Bread of Life. Against the backdrop of the current Eucharistic revival\, the lecture will explore John’s perspectives on the central sacrament of Church Life. \nBio of Dr. John W. Daniels\, Jr. (Jack) \nDr. Jack has served as the professor of Old Testament for the Diocesan Ministry Formation Program for the past thirteen years.  Now in his 26th year of teaching Biblical Studies at Flagler College\, Jack also serves as the Teaching and Learning Librarian at the College’s Proctor Library.  He has earned graduate degrees from Florida State University and Columbia Theological Seminary and holds the degree of Doctor of Theology in New Testament from the University of South Africa.
